The Mexican Suitcase. A film by Trisha Ziff

The Mexican Suitcase

This is an amazing story, and from the trailer it looks like it'll be a great documentary as well. In case you don't know what it's about, here's how Trisha Ziff, the director, describes it:

Mexican Suitcase is a 90 minute feature documentary that tells the incredible story of the recovery of 4,500 negatives taken by photographers Robert Capa, Gerda Taro and David Seymour during the Spanish Civil War, with an extraordinary score by composer, Michael Nyman. The film reveals the journey of these lost negatives from France to Mexico.

Three boxes that had been lost since the 1930's were found in a closet in Mexico City in 2007. In the boxes were a series of 35mm negatives documenting the Spanish Civil War shot by non other than the 3 photographers mentioned above.

book has been published with the work and now this film tells us the story. Go to the official site and check out the trailer and get more information. And I suggest you head to the film's Kickstarter page and support the film's journey to an Academy Award nomination. I just did!
