Gabriella for People of the Globe

Gabriella from Sweeden for People of the GlobeI'm sure I've posted this one before. It's one of the earliest photographs I did for the People of the Globe project back in 2006. I've shot with Gabriella after this, but for some reason I really like this photo.

Stills in Motion: New portfolio added to site

Blurry Visions 01Part of Blurry Visions series; Sydney, Australia; 2009 ©Gabriel Ponzanelli

I just uploaded a new gallery to my website with 6 photographs from my Blurry Visions project. A series exploring movement. I've been playing with creating movement in-camera exclusively (ie. not using Photoshop) and experimenting with the results. I've been quite happy with what I've gotten so far, to the point where I'm starting to understand that obsessing over the technicalities of an image is sometimes a waste of time. What's important is the image. Who cares if a photograph is tack-sharp and perfectly lit if it's a boring shot that doesn't say anything? I want to tell a story, and a story can be told with a blurry shot full of noise and artifacts. Actually, some stories even benefit from this. So, I keep experimenting. Link to the Blurry Visions gallery here. Comments welcome.
